Dr Chinwe Lucia Ochu has over 23 years’ experience as a clinician. She has a M.B.,B.S from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria and a MPH from University of Liverpool, UK. She currently works with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as a deputy director leading research, training and knowledge management. NCDC is Nigeria’s National Public Health Institute with the mandate to protect the health of Nigerians through prevention, early detection and control of infectious diseases of public health importance. She represents NCDC at the National Lassa Fever Research Consortium, National Health Research Committee and National Health Research Technical Working Group. She is involved in the development of a National Research for Health Agenda for Nigeria with identification of health research priorities. She is also involved in the development of Nigeria’s National Plan for Integrated Zoonotic Disease Surveillance and Research in Animals as well as in the development of National Ebola Virus Disease Contingency Plan for Nigeria. She has represented Nigeria in international discussions that border on the advancement of accelerator 5 of SDG3 (R&D, Innovation and Access). She was part of the health product development, implementation and funding partners deliberation on tackling bottlenecks that impede access to health innovation.

Fred Cutler (Ph.D. Michigan) does research in public opinion, elections, federalism, and political psychology. He is also an educational technology leader and a startup founder who teaches courses based on teamwork. Fred insists that you call him Fred, whoever you are. Fred has published in POQ, JOP, BJPolS, CJPS, Publius, Political Geography, Electoral Studies, and has chapters in various edited volumes. A recent research project involves lab experiments to understand the effects of different numbers of political parties on voters and their satisfaction with democracy (electoraldemocracy.com). He received SSHRCC funding on a project called Polls and Elections. His earlier research focused on the effect of federalism on political behaviour and government accountability. Much of his work has investigated the influence of the local social and economic environment on how people think about politics. Fred was one of four investigators on the Canadian Election Study 2011 and 2015, the flagship academic survey on Canadian public opinion and voting behaviour.

Position:Environmental Social Scientist

I am an environmental social scientist who employs participatory and interdisciplinary socio-ecological methods to build adaptive capacity in diverse communities for climate change, coastal hazards, and the sustainable management of natural resources. Over the course of a dozen years in the conservation field, I have traveled throughout the United States and Mexico to perform interviews, facilitate focus groups and workshops, and conduct survey research to inform management plans, write scientific articles, and engage primarily rural natural resource dependent communities.

Dr Tim Friedman works as a Senior Research Fellow and leads the Questionnaires team within the Assessment Development Program at the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Tim has extensive roles in large-scale surveys, serving as the project director at ACER for Australia’s National Assessment Program - ICT Literacy 2022, and international project coordinator for the IEA International Civic and Citizenship Education Study 2022 cycle. He has led ACER’s contribution to the development of contextual questionnaires and their subsequent analysis for the COVID-19 Monitoring Impacts on Learning Outcomes (MILO) project as well as other large-scale surveys including the OECD International Early Learning Study (IELS), the Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics study (SEA-PLM), the Pacific Islands Literacy and Numeracy Study (PILNA). In 2011, Tim was awarded a PhD in Psychology at Monash University for his investigation into the detection subtle deficits in cognitive decline, using a novel computer based test of cognitive function.
